Newsletter 2002

Finuala and Brian welcome you to our 2002 newsletter. We hope you enjoy reading the newsletter and look forward to hearing from our friends.

It's amazing how every year, when I decide it is about time to sit down and write another newsletter, the weather decides to work with me and provide a weekend of awful weather. As I write, there is very heavy rain, with a bit of hail thrown in for good measure.

This year it has been very hard to decide upon the lead story, so I'm not going to make that decision, I leave the choice to you. Your choices are -

On the work front, I (Finuala) have a new job. For some years now, I have wanted to be the "silly idiot" who made the decision how elements of software functionality should work. This is one of the reasons why I joined Adaytum. My dream came true when, on 1 October, I became a Product Manager for Adaytum. The job will mean less, but longer, travel. I will spend most of my time working from home, but will have to visit company offices in York, London, Bristol and Minneapolis as well as occasional visits to customers.

It is hard to believe that this coming year marks our 5th wedding anniversary and with it, another barn dance. Since the last one was our wedding reception and the day was so busy, we decided that this time we would like to concentrate our efforts on having fun. So please put the date of 12 July in your diary. The venue will be the same as last time and the band is also the same one, so it should be a case of deja vu, apart from the fact that I have no intention of wearing a dress that is so long that I need to hitch it up this time!
