1901 Our Dogs Article
Some years ago, I was approached at Crufts by someone wanting to sell a copy of Our Dogs newspaper from 1901. Once I saw what the paper contained, I knew that it had to be owned by someone with Welsh Springers and so agreed to purchase it.
Welsh Springers were recognised by The Kennel Club in 1902 and this article is designed to allow members of the canine fancy to become acquainted with the breed in the run up to this momentous occasion.
On talking to John Phillips, Chairman of the Welsh Springer Spaniel Club 1995 - 2000 and author of "The Essential Welsh Springer Spaniel", I discovered that he was previously unaware of the existance of this article and photographs in it of Welsh Springers at the turn of the twentieth century.
It is therefore with great pleasure that I am making it available to you in PDF format. Unfortunatly there is a small tear at the bottom of the page which was repaired with sticky tape before I got the paper. I suppose that it is not totally surprising to have some damage, given the age of the newspaper.
